Oil on canvas (12"x12") Framed

Water, spilling out, finds it's own course, finds it's own way down. It's a Holy Spirit Baptism in the Deschutes River.

I'm meditating on light as it flows through water.  To achieve a sense of water flowing over rocks, I had to add grays which dulled my bright, reflective highlights. I discovered that if I don't recognize and even add in the darkness, my painting won't look real. Contrast is the necessary ingredient to reality. Contrast shapes our reality. If everything is perfect and bright, you're only dreaming.
